Writing PAIL (Writing Project at Ivey Lane)

  • Fall 2006. Advanced poetry class, Creative Nonfiction class, Poetry Workshop class, and Fiction classes lead writing workshops in fourth grade classes to help prepare for FCAT. Students also tutor one-on-one. We partner with The Golden Rule Foundation to create professional-looking, perfect bound anthology for the writing completed in workshops.
  • Spring 2007. Structure of Verse and Graduate Poetry Workshop lead writing workshops in third grade classes, preparing them for fourth grade writing for the FCAT.

  • Writing Buddy Project

  • Several UCF students are working one-on-one with fourth graders at Ivey Lane Elementary School as they prepare for the FCAT.

  • Writing Home

  • Fall 2006. Each Wednesday evening, 7:30-8:30, we're leading a creative writing workshop at the Coalition for the Homeless for adults.

  • Write to Dream

  • Fall 2006. Students in Poetry Workshop are leading poetry workshops for inner-city children in Sanford's Dream Center on Mondays 3:30-4:30.


  • Spring 2006

    Ivery Lane Elementary

  • Creative writing classes led writing workshops in all Ivey Lane Elementary third grade classrooms.
  • Business Cornerstone classes raised funds for the school.
  • UCF's Office of Service-Learning created a "Dream Center," providing toys, clothing, and school supplies for ILE's FCAT Mall.
  • Honors Freshman Composition students provided one-on-one tutoring in a variety of subject areas.

  • The Center for Drug-Free Living

  • Creative writing classes led writing workshops for at-risk youth.

  • Women's Residential and Counseling Center

  • Creative writing classes led writing workshops for children.
